It 's my experience that art making is a visually interrogative process that questions for the purpose of seeking form. In that regard I'm reminded of a comment expressed to me at an early age by a family member " Don't Trace, Draw Freehand". The wisdom housed in those words, continues to guide my art-making efforts. For me there is a restlessness in the making of my art. It's one, along with ranging conversations with good friends coupled with particular pieces of music, that prompts ideas and questions regarding composition, materials, intent, shape and resolution. "Don't Trace, Draw Freehand" is a voice that remains close by.
